TOPIC 17: Electronics
Tip 1:
Many students are confused about the difference between the terms positive feedback, negative feedback, inverting amplifier and non-inverting amplifier.
Some even mistakenly equate positive feedback as non-inverting amplifier!
The table below will give an overview of the above classifications:
|
|
Feedback to the Inverting Input |
Feedback to the Non-Inverting Input |
|
Negative Feedback |
Inverting Amplifier |
Non-Inverting Amplifier |
|
Positive Feedback |
Inverting Schmitt Trigger |
Non-Inverting Schmitt Trigger |
Tip 2:
NAND gates and NOR gates can be used to form any other gates (except Bill Gates).
So if one day the world runs out of OR, AND, NOT, EXOR, EXNOR gates. Fear not. If you have NAND or NOR gates, you can use it to construct all the other gates.
But for exam purposes, you need only to memorise one configuration of creating an EXOR gate from a number of NAND gates.
The configuration can be found it your Option Booklet on Electronics.
